Why Use Unity Candles
While some weddings do not need to use unity candles, some couples prefer to use them because of the meaning it shows. Just like wearing bridal jewelry to the wedding that is now being part of tradition, unity candles are now being the same.
Couples who use this type of tradition usually light the candle at a specific part of the wedding. The bride and groom will light the candle to symbolize friendship, loyalty, and love towards each other and that they will honor these commitments to the best that they can.
Two more candles can also be used in the wedding. The mother of the bride and the mother of the groom each will light a candle before the bride enters to symbolize the joining of the two families and becoming one. Then, at a specific portion of the wedding, the bride and groom will also light their unity candle to show love towards each other.
These unity candles can also be part of the wedding mementos of the couple and they can light them each anniversaries they will have together to commemorate their pledge of love for each other.
