South Sea Pearls

Salt water pearls are mostly grown in the South Seas from the southern coast of Southeast Asia to the northern coast of Australia. They are mostly grown in those areas and is the biggest oysters used in pearl culturing.

South Sea pearls have thick coating of nacre that allows them to create a beautiful luster that comes within the pearl. These areas can also create a larger bead create nacre faster than other places because of the warm waters, low pollution levels and the abundant food supply of the South Seas. Although Australia cultivates 60% of the world’s South Sea cultured pearls, Indonesian cultivators produce more gold-lipped oyster that creates the golden pearls.
