Dances and Italian Weddings

Planning a traditional Italian wedding is all about fun. They have the religious ceremony where the bride wears her crystal jewelry earrings as she walk down the aisle, great food, and dances, but they also hold traditional values all at the same time. Their ceremony usually includes a full Mass especially if the couple is a Catholic, but for those non-Catholics they still do a tradition Italian wedding that focuses on the reception.

Great foods are all served and right after the food, come the music and dances. The fun begins with the crowd dancing to different Italian music that also has significant meaning to weddings. One of the most popular wedding dances they have is the Tarantella, which is about a spider bite. The story about this dance is to counteract the venom of the spider bite, although I do not fully know how the story really goes.

However, these days, the Tarantella is danced in a group, where the group will form a circle and the participants will dance in a clockwise direction until the music speeds up and the participants will dance counterclockwise. Once the tempo speeds up the group will change direction again. This will continue until the group it is difficult to keep up with the tempo of the music.
