Get Inspired to Give a Memorable Wedding Toast

Have you been asked to give a toast at a friend’s wedding? Or perhaps you are the best man or father of the bride, and know that a toast will be expected of you. Even if public speaking gives you the jitters, don’t panic! You can get through this, with a toast so eloquent that everyone will praise it afterward.

Draw on your personal memories of the bride and the groom. Think about how you felt when you heard that they were dating or when they announced that they were getting married. Talk about where you see them going in the future, and wish them well as they go. Talk about what kind of family you think they will create and what hopes you have. Remember that you should never try to embarrass anyone when you are giving a wedding toast speech.

If you are completely at a loss, take a look at your favorite books of prose or poetry. This is a good way to get you thinking in the right direction, but always bring it back to the special individuals that you know as the bride and the groom. What are the most romantic things that you can think of and how do they relate to the guests of honor on that day? You can also think about their favorites, if you happen to know them, and quote from them. You will even find that good song lyrics can be recited; think about what lyrics mean the most to the people in question.

Being asked to give a wedding toast is a great honor, so make sure that you give it your best shot. Also keep in mind, however, that it will be a lot less difficult than you think!
