The Ring Bearer’s Job
Not every wedding has one, but the ring bearer can be a wonderful addition to the bridal party. Your little guy will have a very big job to do: safely transporting the wedding bands down the aisle to the bride and groom. These are the things that you will want to think about if you are having a ring bearer.
The ring bearer is going to be carrying the rings for the wedding, which means he’ll need to carry a ring pillow. It’s important that you take your time choosing a nice ring pillow as well. It should be thought of as an accessory to your wedding.
You can choose pillows that go along with your wedding dress, that match the outfit of the ring bearer, or something that goes along with the wedding theme. Usually the pillows are in moiré, silk, or satin, and are white or ivory. You can have ribbons on them, flowers, or even beautiful pearls to enhance the pillows. Just ensure the pillow can be easily carried. Get the ring bearer used to balancing the pillow and rings before the big day so no accidents occur.
There are a variety of ways your ring bearer can be involved in your wedding. Usually the duty of the ring bearer is to carry the rings up the aisle. Often the rings on the pillow are fake. However, you can choose to let him carry the real rings if you want to. Just make sure he is instructed about what he is supposed to do during the ceremony so he is well prepared. You can also choose to have the ring bearer do the duties of a page as well, helping the bride with her long train as she goes up the aisle.
