Morning Weddings and Black Tie Attire

While there is no strict rule that if you have a traditional morning wedding ceremony in morning suits, you must end the day with a black tie evening reception, most newlyweds who decide to go the traditional way choose the second option as well. In case of black tie weddings or receptions, the main question is whether the tuxedo jacket should be black or white. Although most wedding fashion traditionalists will tell you that it should be black, at the end of the day it doesn’t really matter, and you should choose the one you feel more comfortable in. What you need is a single or double breasted jacket with ribbed silk lapels that has no vents or covered buttons.

The evening formal shirt must be traditionally a pleated one, to cater for the black bow-tie. But a more modern form will allow the groom to wear a collared shirt, if it makes him more comfortable. The trousers must be pleated, with one row of braid and suitable for braces. If you really want to take it all the way, you can always try a cummerbund waist band. Although in recent times, most prefer the colorful waistcoat.

Finally, if you and your bride do agree to wear the traditional wedding attire, make sure you either buy or hire it in advance, for it will have to be fitted to your measurements and you definitely don’t want to leave this important task to the last minute.
