There are a lot of people both families would want to invite and this will require a great discussion from both families to get the right numbers.

The bride’s family may even have more say on the matter since they feel, they are going to pay for most of it so better invite whoever they want. But this should not be the case. Remember that this is your big day and you should take charge of your wedding planning as much as you can. If both families would still want to invite more than what you have planned for, then you might not have any option, but to let them pay for additional costs. That is the most practical and realistic way in dealing with the problem, but if you cannot let them give more, then take in control and you and your groom decide on the matter.
