Getting Control of Your Wedding Guest List
Sometimes too many friends can be as much of a problem as a blessing. This is especially true when planning a wedding. For those that have a large, must invite group of friends, try paring down the cost of the reception. You can select simply hors d’ouevres in place of a large meal, or use the facilities of the church, often with meals prepared by the members. These tend to be less expensive and you can get more for your money.
The more formal the reception, the more important it is for the bride to wear her wedding gown. These types of receptions normal follow the wedding and are often quite large. If the reception is larger than the wedding guest list and a period after the wedding takes place, the bride should wear appropriate clothing for the venue, but keep it elegant, regardless of the style. Jewelry and other accessories help to promote the bride’s elegance. For the informal reception, you can’t go wrong wearing pearl bridal jewelry. These are lovely whether you wear them with casual wear or elegant evening wear. The more formal reception where there is a lag of time and the bride doesn’t wear her gown, should find the bride spangled for the occasion with the elegance of the appropriate jewelry for the time of day. A simple silver lariat necklace is a wonderful daytime accessory for the bride but nothing sparkles so beautifully after dark as crystal for the formal evening reception.
You can start by deciding how many you’d like to have at the reception and wedding, and dividing the number into your reception budget and planning around that number, or if you’ve already chosen the venue for the wedding and reception, paring the list and the refreshments down to fit the budget. Either way, expect someone to be unhappy about your selection. It’s not a typical wedding unless there are a few disagreements and tears shed. If you’re lucky, they’ll be out of happiness.
