The Story of Necklaces

The story of necklaces even starts during 75,000 years ago. Some archeologists found some forty-one mollusks in a cave in South Africa that were believed to have been strung a neck jewelry.

The oldest necklace, however, was found 30,000 B.C. The most traditional necklace during those times were made of shells, bones, animal teeth or claws that were strung on a thread. Luckily, in 25,000 B.C gold became a popular jewelry. There were even found adornments and chokers found at the Royal Grave of Ur, Now know as Iraq. In 2000 B.C, Sumerian bead neck jewelry started to use alternating patterns of colored stones and gemstones and different metal such as silver and copper were used.

The story of necklaces is truly a long and spectacular one. From people just using ordinary thread and bones, to people using it for every occasion and as a bridal jewelry since the selection nowadays are so endless.
