To Splurge or Not to Splurge

My friend and I were talking about her wedding and the details she wants to have for it. I was fairly answering her questions. But then she asked me if she has to splurge for her wedding jewelry, I was actually stumped. I could not give her a fair answer. All the while I thought that women should always look good for their wedding day even if they have to spend a lot of money to do so. I told her that if she has the money to do so, then why not.

When I got home, I got to think about it. I realized that the wedding day is a start of their lives together. With the economy suffering due to the global economic crisis, splurging on one’s wedding does not sound appealing. True, bridal jewelry can add to that sparkle you are looking for on your wedding day, but it is not the only thing to it because after your wedding day, life will not be a bed of roses. And you might even get that feeling of regret having to spend so much money for your bridal jewelry since you will just occasionally be wearing those pieces on other days. Since wedding jewelry is not at all a good investment, except if they are real diamonds or gold.

In these times, where money is hard to come by, keeping it practical is always a common sense. If you show discernment on spending for your jewelry and still look terrific for your wedding, your groom will appreciate that he just hit jackpot taking you as his most prized possession.
